CRITICAL REVIEW OF HEALTH EDUCATION INTERVENTION IN PHYSICALACTIVITY, OBESITY AND SUICIDAL PREVENTION AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS IN NIGERIA

Thispaper examines existinghealtheducationinterventions
in physical activity, obesity, and suicidal prevention among
college students. It addressesthe following: effectiveness of
intervention on physical activity, nutritional interventional
program, theoretical implication on behavioural change
and implementation of both the tans-theoretical model of
behavioural changes and HBM health believe models are
also considered. The paper focuses on how positive
behaviours could be developed among college students and
in the society using various theoretical health education
intervention programs that would facilitate optimum
healthy living. The study concludes that understanding the
health implication of these health problems among the
populace is needed regularly as this would help to
encourage various intervening programs and health
education activities both in the institution of learning and
public places would help to facilitate and promote healthy
living among the individuals, students, and the larger
society.It is recommended that teaching of various courses,
most especially,in science-oriented courses should involve
the knowledge of health education and preventive activities
that would promote the physical well-being of the students in
the institution of learning. Public health officers in the
society should work in line with current health information
on how the individuals in the society could promote their
well-being through regular physical activities, nutritional
education and overcoming psychological challenges
regarding suicide and other antisocial behaviours in the
society.
